About Project Baseline Vinkeveen

Project Baseline Vinkeveen is dedicated to monitoring underwater environmental conditions through the systematic collection of temperature and visibility data. Our goal is to identify and document trends over time, helping us understand changes in water quality and biodiversity within the beautiful waters of Vinkeveen.

As part of the global Project Baseline initiative, supported by Global Underwater Explorers (GUE), we aim to build a strong diving community committed to conservation, education, and citizen science. By training project divers and involving local enthusiasts, we empower individuals to actively contribute to preserving their local aquatic ecosystems.

Project Baseline was born out of a passion for protecting aquatic environments through systematic documentation and public engagement. By establishing consistent baselines—clear reference points from which environmental change can be measured—we provide valuable data that supports scientific research, informs policy-making, and enhances community awareness and action.

Join us in exploring beneath the surface, contributing to meaningful science, and safeguarding the underwater world of Vinkeveen for generations to come.

Who's behind the project?

Project Baseline Vinkeveen was revitalized by Ferry Schram and Jeroen Honig.

Ferry Schram has been diving since 1995. He is a passionate GUE instructor and professional diver. He serves as a dive squad leader and firefighter with the Amsterdam-Amstelland Fire Department, and he is also a diving instructor at Scuba Academie in Vinkeveen. Ferry teaches dive medical courses (DMB B1/B2/DMT) and provides first aid and emergency response training. With thousands of dives completed, Ferry specializes in cave diving, deep mixed gas diving, wreck diving, CCR (rebreather), ice diving, and DPV scooter diving. He has contributed to several diving projects, including the Fourbanne Exploration Project, Project Baseline Sardinia, and Project Morpheus in Croatia. His passion lies in sharing his extensive diving knowledge and experience with both new and seasoned divers.

Jeroen Honig began his GUE diving journey with the Fundamentals course in 2023 and earned his Cave 1 certification in 2024. Jeroen has a deep passion for water sports and underwater exploration and is eager to inspire others. Within Project Baseline Vinkeveen, he supports data collection, instrument development, and data analysis.

Project Baseline Vinkeveen relies heavily on volunteers. Ferry and Jeroen ensure the measurement points remain accessible. Ferry serves as project leader, with Jeroen supporting in technical and analytical roles.

We are actively seeking partner organizations interested in supporting and collaborating with our project.
